Hello and welcome to my December 2021 Newsletter.
I hope that you, your families and friends have managed to stay safe and well during this challenging year, who would have thought that we would have had a second year of restrictions and worry.
I hope that you, your families and friends have managed to stay safe and well during this challenging year, who would have thought that we would have had a second year of restrictions and worry.
The year started with no indoor classes being held, but thank goodness I was able to teach outside although somewhat wet and cold. With the correct waterproofs and thermals nothing was going to stop me keeping my ladies and gents fit and healthy! Thankfully the zoom online classes have been a life saver, this time around most people had the hang of these and more people attended classes during our second lockdown. It is always a pleasure to see the smiling faces of my ladies and gents and off course their pets, of which Poppy my cat always made a verbal entrance while I was teaching and then sit on me especially if I was on flat on my front or on all fours much to the amusement of my class:-)
Due to people isolating or could not make classes as now back working I was asked if I could record some Pilates classes that my ladies and gents could do in their own time, now I love a challenge so recorded six forty minute pilates classes that could be accessed via U-Tube. These have gone down well, so will be recording some more during 2022.
At the beginning of the year I trained to be a volunteer vaccinator with St John Ambulance and was deployed to the East Bourne area, so when I was not teaching I was busy vaccinating. I have carried on through out the year, although sadly I can only do weekends now as classes and face to face session have got back to normal.
When the weather got better more outdoor sports charity events took place, St Barnabas Hospice had Hit the Downs where over 500 people cycled across a very challenging course across the Downs. I volunteered to register the riders in at 6am then to be on the course to help guide them in the right direction and offer help if needed, they certainly deserved their medals at the end! At the beginning of September St Barnabas Hospice also had their Night to remember midnight walk, the Ladies, gents and older children walked either 7/14/21 miles. Walking any of these distances is not easy, as I know from personal experience. So I was at the end to give them a mat and stretches that their legs, hips and back needed, sadly I had to do this remotely and them using bands......maybe next year I can be hands on? I take my hat off to anyone that challenges themselves to firstly raise money for worthy causes and also to get fitter along the way, I was privileged to hear many stories behind the reasons people have done these challenges..... I just wished I could have hugged them.
With restrictions being lifted my Horsham aqua ladies could have their Annual Christmas lunch, there was 27 of us and Cotes in Horsham did very well to cater for us making all of us feel safe. These events would not happen without my two unofficial PA's Ann and Lesley, they have both had a challenging year with family health issues but they still found time to organise an event for the 40 ladies and gents that attend my aqua class at the Pavilions in Horsham on a Tuesday morning. These ladies have attended my aqua class for over 14 years, they are such caring and kind ladies that will do anything for anyone. We all appreciate the work and effort put into these events, thank you ladies. xx
So what will 2022 bring? Hopefully life will resemble some sort of normally, where we can get back to what we love to do. I am certainly looking forward to wild water swimming again In the spring, the wet suit will be out again!

I am very lucky to work with such caring and kind ladies and gents, it is a real pleasure to teach you all. Thank you to everyone who bought me Christmas gifts this year, you are very kind. I would like to share one of these gifts with you, I think it sums up this year. Irene saw me teaching with this outfit on and thought that has got to be knitted! Its brilliant , she even got my hair correct! :-)
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for there support this year, it has been really appreciated. I wish you a Happy New year with Good Health and good fortune.
